BORGO S. DALMAZZO - MEMO4345

MEMO4345 is a multimedia historical-didactic tour where visitors, guided to knowledge and thinking about the elements of the Shoah in Europe, can deepen their interest in the story of the 357 Jews (334 foreigners, 23 Italians) deported to Auschwitz from the concentration camp active in Borgo San Dalmazzo between September 1943 and February 1944. On 15 February 1944, in Borgo San Dalmazzo, 26 Jews who had been interned in the town camp, reached the railway station and were put into freight cars. Thus began their deportation, via Fossoli (a village near Carpi, in the province of Modena), to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Only two people survived.

The exhibition is located inside the former Church of Sant'Anna, next to the Deportation Memorial, a few steps away from the railway station from which the convoys left for the Nazi extermination camps.
