DEMONTE – Lavender fields

If you want to dive into the colours and scents of the lavender fields, you do not need to go to Provence... Demonte can satisfy your desire!
Between the mid 19th and the beginning of the 20th century numerous fields of “izòp”, (Occitan noun for Lavender) characterizes the valley territory. Its harvest, mainly for pharmaceutical purposes, was a source of profit for the inhabitants of the Valley. The tradition has been carried on, even today in the Demonte village, in the months of June and July, you can admire the blue fields of this plant that is currently used, from an economic point of view, for the creation of very valuable essential oils.
