The river activities represent the flagship of the avaiable proposals on the council territory. In fact, in Gaiola there is the school of Canoe and Kayak of Stiera which every year operates from April on the Demonte Stura with a staff composed of federal guides and instructors. Another highlight is the rafting descent, which along the river reach difficulties from 2° to 3 °, depending on the water level, on a scale of 6.
From a hiking point of view, Gaiola offers easy walks that lead into rural environments, dominated by dense chestnut groves in which testimonies of human presence alternate themselves, such as isolated houses, country chapels and paths. In winter these are easily walkable, even after the plentiful snowfall with the use of snows rackets.
