La Montagna Viva - Stories of care, protection and enhancement in 15 photo-portraits of communities

Opening exhibition at 16.00 in the Ecomuseum’s space in Pontebernardo

"To support those who ("remaining", "returning", "new inhabitants") return centrality to the mountain as a place of life and production"

This phrase, contained in the Camaldoli Manifesto on the centrality of the mountain (2019), perfectly encapsulates the sense of what the Ecomuseum of Pastoralism of Pontebernardo (CN) has tried to achieve together with its community. Through the shots of the photographer from Cuneo Luca Prestia, contained in the photographic exhibition "La Montagna Viva – Stories of care, protection and enhancement in 15 photo-portraits of communities": a large project of socio-anthropological scope, which places at the center people who thanks to their stay or return, enhance and innovate the local culture, through agricultural and pastoral projects that speak of rediscovery, protection, care, and enhancement of the mountain.

Fifteen community portraits, fifteen young inhabitants of the Stura Valley who have decided to "put their faces on it", in the true sense of the term. They prove that contrary to what you might think, the mountain is alive, in motion, the mountain is life.

Fifteen faces that give us back lives made of many sacrifices, of responsibility and difficulties, of determination, of satisfaction, but above all of so much, so much passion for their profession and for the territory.

For each person involved two types of photos were made, strictly in color: a portrait, which will become a poster advertising 70x100 and will be disseminated in the villages of Valle Stura to draw the attention of the public and to invite you to visit the Ecomuseum, where the second type of shots will be exposed, which portrays the subjects in their own working context.

The photographs displayed in the ecomuseum’s room will be open to visitors from 2 July to 31 December, during the ecomuseum opening hours. The photo-portraits will always be visible, traveling in the various villages of the Stura Valley, as exposed outside.
